Hackettstown Animal Hospital's
Senior Wellness Program
At Hackettstown Animal Hospital, we recommend annual wellness testing for all pets over the age of seven. You can help to make your pet’s golden years happy and healthy through our Senior Wellness Program. We strive to sustain longer life through with early detection and treatment for problems that may occur with your pet’s advancing age.
The Senior Wellness Program includes:
Wellness exam - Our veterinarians will check for any abnormalities concerning the eyes, ears, skin, and teeth. They listen to the heart to detect a murmur or arrhythmia and feel over the whole body for lumps and bumps that appear abnormal.
General Senior Blood Profile Includes:
Chemistry profile - Test for major organ function, electrolyte balance, and blood sugar.
Complete Blood Count - Also known as a "CBC," this blood test will indicate underlying blood disorders such as anemia and some types of infections.
Thyroid Level (T4) - Blood test to measure the amount of circulating thyroid hormone. Deficiency of the thyroid hormone may result in lethargy, weight gain, and dermatological problems.
Urinalysis - Urine samples provide valuable information about kidney function as well as screening for urinary infections and urine crystals.
Chest X-ray - This will help to make sure the heart is of normal size, show any masses in the chest cavity, abnormal growths on bones, and any excess fluid in the chest.
